Ethereal Evocation of Women

As an interdisciplinary Artist I enjoy many mediums. 2023-25 focus has been the figure in clay. As a portrait painter I admire the beauty in all. I invite the viewer to journey into themselves, connecting with the spiritual and elemental realms.

By exploring her identity, she engages in a visceral exchange of personal and political narratives while cultivating an awareness of “otherness.” This process of looking inward is both an act of remembering—honoring ancestral voices and past experiences—and a visionary act of imagining new possibilities for the future.

After returning from two months spent in the lush forests, cool refreshing rivers, and warm ocean of her birthplace in Puerto Rico, Nayda found a renewed sense of stillness and empowerment. These elements are now captured in her ceramic figurative sculptures. Her new series invites viewers to journey into themselves, connecting with the spiritual and elemental realms. It is a celebration of the divine feminine—of fertility, priestesses, shamans, and oracles.

My signature in ceramics is the Coqui. The native tree frog of Puerto Rico, the Coqui (Eleutherodactylus coqui) is used to symbolize the resilience of the Puerto Rican people. I also incorporate recycled Sea Glass from the beach of Aguadilla.
